Fee $200Level AdvancedAccess Open to anyoneDifficulty 4/5
NVIDIA calls this an intermediate-level credential. We rate it Advanced because it expects hands-on production agent work. At the time of writing, NVIDIA’s exam page also marks registration as “coming soon”, so check that booking is open before you plan around a date.
1. The quick verdict
Worth it if you build or design agent systems and want an open, mostly vendor-neutral credential. Only 7% of the exam is NVIDIA’s own platform; the rest is agent architecture, development, evaluation, deployment, memory and planning, and human oversight. That makes it one of the more portable agentic certifications, and unlike Anthropic’s architect exams, anyone can register.
The one thing to know before you register: NVIDIA expects 1–2 years in AI or ML roles plus hands-on work on production agent projects, and the exam is 60–70 questions in 2 hours. It isn’t a first AI certification.

| Exam fee | US$200 |
| Retake policy | Fee each attempt. Wait 14 days after a fail. Max 5 attempts in 12 months. |
| Format | Online, remotely proctored, booked through a Certiverse account. 120 minutes, 60–70 questions. English. No breaks. |
| Passing score | Pass/fail; NVIDIA doesn’t give a score. |
| Coding needed | None in the exam, but it assumes you have built agents. |
| Formal prerequisites | None |
| Realistic prerequisites | 1–2 years in AI or ML roles plus production agent projects: orchestration, multi-agent frameworks, retrieval, evaluation, observability and guardrails (NVIDIA’s stated expectations). |
| Validity & renewal | 2 years. Renew by passing the exam again. |
| Estimated prep time | Already building agents at work: 30–50 hours. Built RAG apps but no agents: 60–90 hours. |

| Agent development | 15% | Building agents, integrating tools and models, and improving them. |
| Evaluation and tuning | 13% | Measuring, comparing and optimising agent performance. |
| Deployment and scaling | 13% | Running agent systems in production and scaling them. |
| Cognition, planning and memory | 10% | Reasoning strategies, planning, decision-making and memory management. |
| Knowledge integration and data handling | 10% | Retrieval pipelines and working with different kinds of data. |
| NVIDIA platform implementation | 7% | Using NVIDIA’s hardware and software to run and optimise agents. |
| Run, monitor and maintain | 5% | Operating, monitoring and troubleshooting agents after deployment. |
| Safety, ethics and compliance | 5% | Guardrails, responsible AI and regulatory compliance. |
| Human-AI interaction and oversight | 5% | Designing human-in-the-loop review and oversight. |
5. Who should take it, and who shouldn’t
Take it if you are:
- A developer or engineer building agent systems that run in production.
- An architect designing multi-agent workflows who can’t access Anthropic’s partner-only exams.
- An ML engineer moving from RAG applications to agents.
Skip it or wait if you are:
- New to building with LLMs. Start with Oracle Agentic AI Foundations (free) or NCA-GENL.
- Working mainly with one cloud’s agent services. Azure AI-500 or Google Professional Agentic Architect will match your daily tools.
- Training or fine-tuning models rather than building agents. NCP-GENL fits better.
6. What to expect after passing
- What it signals: You can design, build, evaluate and run agent systems responsibly.
- What it doesn’t prove: Deep knowledge of any one cloud’s agent services.
- Where it’s asked for: AI engineering and platform roles building agents, and consulting firms delivering agentic projects.
- Natural next step: The agent exam for your main platform (Azure AI-500 or Google Professional Agentic Architect), or CCAR-F and CCAR-P if your company is an Anthropic partner.
7. How to prepare
- Official: The study guide, plus NVIDIA’s recommended courses: Building Agentic AI Applications With LLMs and Building RAG Agents With LLMs ($90 each, self-paced), Evaluating RAG and Semantic Search Systems ($30), Introduction to Deploying RAG Pipelines for Production at Scale ($90), and Adding New Knowledge to LLMs (instructor-led, $500).
- Practice: Evaluation, deployment and memory together carry as much weight as building, so don’t spend all your time on building agents.
Hands-on:
- Build a two-agent workflow, a planner and a tool-using worker, with an open-source framework (Architecture and design, Development).
- Add an evaluation set and tracing, then change one prompt or tool and measure the effect (Evaluation and tuning; Run, monitor and maintain).
- Add a human approval step before any irreversible tool action, plus an output guardrail (Human oversight; Safety).
8. Compare with
- Microsoft Multi-Agent AI Solutions Expert (AI-500), $165 (US price): Azure-specific multi-agent exam; you also need AI-103 to earn it.
- Google Cloud Professional Agentic Architect, $200: Google Cloud-specific, with a hands-on lab part; in beta.
- AWS Certified Generative AI Developer – Professional (AIP-C01), $300: Broader gen AI application development on AWS, including agents.

9. FAQ
Is NCP-AAI tied to NVIDIA tools?
Only lightly. NVIDIA’s platform is 7% of the exam; the rest applies to any agent stack.
NCP-AAI or a Claude Certified Architect exam?
They cover similar ground. Anthropic’s CCAR-F and CCAR-P need a company email from a Claude Partner Network organization; NCP-AAI is open to anyone.
Do I need NCA-GENL first?
No. There are no formal prerequisites, but NCP-AAI expects real agent-building experience.
How long is it valid?
Two years. You renew by passing the exam again.
